Starting a Hair Braiding Salon

Starting a Hair Braiding Salon

You can easily earn INR 30,000-INR 50,000 per month by opening a Braiding Shop or a salon.

Hair braiding is an art, and the styles of braids range from box braids to micros, cornrows and the list goes on.  Here are some 10 tips you need to know, in order to be a hair braider.

  1.  First of all, you need to decide what hairstyles you want to start with- Whether you have a braiding background or not ,you need to  explore various styles people opt for. One must consider his or her geography, scan around, do research, and find out the "in" styles. Find out what people want in the area you live in. Then, based on that, you can select what services you would like to offer. You can also  choose the services you want to offer based on ease. After finding out what the people want, you have to consider whether it is something you can do or learn easily.

 2.  Watch Videos on YouTube- YouTube can be an amazing way to learn/improve on your braiding skills. There are certain people on YouTube I have learned a lot from over the years.

3.    You need to Practise- What good is watching YouTube videos if you don't practice. Before trying on a real client, you can practice on a mannequin, yourself, friends and family. Charging people without knowing what you are about, is very embarrassing and may cause conflicts between the two parties. You can buy a mannequin on eBay and Amazon for as little as 20$ and you can pay about 60-80$ in a beauty supply such as Sally's for a similar mannequin. Since doing it for friends is mutually beneficial, you can charge them as little as 20$ for a start or do it for free.

4.Set Prices and Take Pictures- You know how much they charge for various services in a salon and you also know what their work looks like. Based on your work you can set your prices. Initially you can charge ,for example,  $65 -$80  for box braids. Charge reasonably because hair braiding take a lot of time and patience. As you are Practising take good pictures of your work because it will come in handy.

5.Start Advertising- Advertisement is  public medium  of promoting your service. Before Social Media and all that Jazz, there was craigslist. Craigslist tends to have a bad omen around it ... but I kid you not, craigslist accounts for 60% of my clients. It is more about being careful and using your gut feeling in every situation.  I haven't had any bad experience till date, but you still need to be careful.

6.    Build Client relationships- Gone are the days where one was solely focusing on profits. In contemporary times the only means of profit is client relationship. You must Listen to your clients needs, Achieve and exceed their expectations, Go the extra mile,  Ask them for feedback right after you are done, If they dislike it be ready to change it and work out things, Learn to be polite and humble, exceptional communication and treat them like family and you will certainly win their heart.
7.Try and Get recommendations- On styleseat a client can officially recommend your services. Tell them to spread the word.

8.Contact beauty supply stores for deals- Some beauty supply managers may give you deals for being a stylist. You can direct your clients there for discounts and also you may also consider selling braiding hair.

10. Finally, you need to understand that time in profit out.-The more time you spend doing hair , practising your skills and learning from your mistake the more more money you are bound to get .

Thankyou.

Food photography tips for bloggers

Food photography tips for bloggers Food PR and food photography have recently gained popularity.  USE NATURAL LIGHT The easiest way to improve your photographs is to use natural light. All of my photos, with the exception of a small few, were taken with daylight diffused through a thin white piece of cloth. LOOK FOR THE LIGHT If you do nothing else I recommend here, the one thing I would say is that lighting is more important than food styling. USE THE MANUAL SETTINGS ON YOUR CAMERA Shoot in complete manual mode always .  If you are not ready for putting your camera into complete manual mode, I totally get that. No problem! In that case, try shooting in AV mode. Which means aperture   priority . That way the shutter speed will be chosen for you by the camera’s light meter, based on the aperture you choose and the available light. USE A TRIPOD That way you can really set up the shot and have low light situations, with a long shutter speed. You’ll also need a c...

Leh Ladakh - My favourite travel destination in India

Camping in Rishikesh might be the perfect vacation for some people but not me.   Ladakh is one of those places that can make an ordinary photographer feel like a professional. And that’s simply because no matter where you point and shoot, you are bound to get a picture-perfect frame. But it’s not just the scenic and visual beauty of the place that makes people fall in love with Ladakh. There is an inexplicable calm in being surrounded by nature’s unabashed beauty; an overwhelming sense of surrender to the vastness that lies all around you. Nubra Valley A desert is probably the last thing one expects while planning a trip to Ladakh but there it is. The sand dunes of the Nubra Valley offer the tourists a very much Arabian Nights like experience. The famous two-humped camelsare also found in the region and are often the highlight of the trip for those interested in animals. The beauty of the Nubra valley is that it allows you to look over the Indus valley in the...
